With sadness and regret, we are announcing that we will be shutting down the DotNetPlayground service on August 1st, 2003.

Without making any guarantees, we do want to open the doors back up for free ASP.NET hosting in the future. With some planning and fundraising, we hope to be able to offer .NET hosting better than the first time.

It was fun while it lasted and we hope that many of you learned a lot about ASP.NET. We certainly did.

Please take the time to download all your files off the web servers now. The entire server farm will be taken down on August 1, 2003 and completely wiped clean.

You will provide a working email address and contact information. We also require that you fill out a survey.

When will my account be set up after I sign up?
Your account will be set up instantly when you use your unique registration ID that will be emailed to you.

Is the sign up process secure?
Yes, we use industry standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption to protect your personal information.

What do I do if I sign up and never hear from you?
If you don't receive an email from the first step, there may have been a typo with your email address. Try signing up again.

If you received your registration ID and are having issues signing up, use the website contact form and include your registration ID.

Do you provide web design, maintenance, and programming services?
No, we do not offer any of these services. Members are solely responsible for everything related to their website.

Do you host commercial websites?
No, our services are intended as a test environment for expert and aspiring ASP.NET developers. We recommend not hosting commercial web sites with our service.

Do you force me to put banner advertisements on my website?
No, we do not believe in placing any forced advertisements on our member's website. However, we do encourage member's to place links to DotNetPlayground.com to help promote our services but on a strictly voluntary basis.

Do you provide a control panel?
Yes, we provide all our members with an online control panel. We welcome your suggestions on how to improve website and account management.

Do you have technical support?
Yes, we provide technical support via the .NET FORUM only. No technical support is available through email, phone, fax, or chat.

Is there a file size limit?
Yes, No individual file over 1 MB is allowed. These files will be removed with no warning. This restriction does not apply to Access database files (.mdb).

No. Members are responsible for backing up their website files. Please check the RULES for our FREE .NET hosting service.

Yes, we support Microsoft Access database with unlimited DSNs. We do not currently support MS SQL.

No, we do not allow telnet for security reasons.

Do you support streaming audio/video?
Currently, we do not support file types typically used for streaming audio/video - such as real audio, windows media, and mp3. Please see below for allowed and disallowed file types.

Can I use FTP to update my website?
Yes, you can update your website 24/7 using FTP.

What are the allowed and disallowed file extensions?
Please check the table below.

Allowed	.asp, .ascx, .asmx, .aspx, .gif, .htm, .html, .mdb, .jpg, .swf
Disallowed	.asf, .avi, .bat, .cgi, .cmd, .exe, .jsp, .mov, .mp3, .mpeg, .mpg, .mxp, .pdf, .php, .pl, .ram, .rar, .rm, .rmx, .wav, .wmf, .wmp, .zip
Disallowed	camouflaged files, files with missing extensions, deceptive file types

What happens if I reach my monthly bandwidth limit?
If you exceed the monthly bandwidth limit, your account will be cancelled. Each member is responsible for making sure that their bandwidth usage does not exceed the monthly limit. See the Rules.

Is CDO or CDONTS object available?
Yes, however we do not provide any SMTP relay services. You will need to provide your own outside SMTP service.

The default document extensions are: default.aspx, default.htm, default.html, default.asp, index.aspx, index.htm, index.html, and index.asp.
